Barry County Acts of Kindness

Our organization was officially formed in 2022 and received our 501(c)(3) non-profit status in June of 2023. Our purpose is to assist Veterans in need. Unfortunately, there aren't enough or proper government programs that are able to assist. That's where we come in. We are able to help our local veterans when other organizations are unable to.

Since our formation, we have been able to provide over $14,326 in assistance to Barry County Veterans in various ways, including mortgage assistance, utility bills, home improvements, car repairs and new shoes. We have also teamed with other local organizations that assist Veterans to make numerous projects possible.

As a veteran and the Veteran Navigator for Barry County, I support Barry County Acts of Kindness and appreciate their dedication to our community's Military Service Members. I have witnessed AOK consistently serving veterans in our community with compassion and dignity. Instead of passing judgment on our veterans who are seeking assistance, Barry County Acts of Kindness looks to understand the veterans need. Once they understand, they quickly and eagerly meet that need.

It can be a challenge to qualify for local, state, and VA funding for our veterans, often taking 30 days or more to receive an approval or denial. AOK removes the red tape - they offer Service Members a hand-up, not a hand-out. I have reached out to them several times and each time they have answered the call. I am grateful to have them in our community and I am confident that they will continue to support our Service Members. Thank you, Barry County Acts of Kindness, for standing in the gap for our veterans. I will continue to support your mission!

This winter I'm so grateful to have a new sturdy front porch handrail, garage windows repaired, and a garage door that works. I can now park in my garage!
